Sadako 3D, a film by Tsutomu Hanabusa, is the sequel to The Ring. The film was released in Japan on 12 May 2012, and we are waiting for a release date in France, probably via the Direct-to-DVD channel. The film was being shown at the Cannes Film Festival Market, and I took the opportunity to slip in among the distributors, producers and others to see the film at one of the small venues in Cannes. Sadako 3D is the adaptation of a novella by Koji Suzuki, the author of The Ring trilogy.
Synopsis: Akane Aikawa works as a teacher in a high school where there is a rumour about a video. The video, which is hosted on the internet, is supposed to show someone committing suicide. When one of Akane Aikawa’s students kills herself, she joins a very large number of other people…people who were trying to watch the video. This is when Akane Aikawa finds out that someone is trying to bring Sadako back to life!
